The Centre chair was originally developed for an iconic culinary space overlooking the new rooftop garden at Saigon Centre, a bustling metropolitan location in Vietnam. Its design reflects the honesty of natural oak material and showcases the hand-crafted details of solid timber carpentry. The chair's carefully shaped backrest, seamlessly joined to follow the contours of the human body, adds to its visual lightness and ergonomic comfort.

Made from solid white oak, the Centre chair features simple mortise-and-tenon joints, showcasing the skill and precision of the carpenters involved in its creation. The backrest curve is joined seamlessly with finger joints, creating a seamless and visually appealing design. The chair is also available with a loose cushion option, providing additional seating comfort.

With dimensions of 560mm in width, 540mm in depth, and 740mm in height, the Centre chair offers a comfortable seat height of 420mm. When paired with the optional cushion, the seat height increases to 450mm. These specifications make it suitable for various dining table heights and ensure a comfortable dining experience.

The Centre chair is fully assembled, with a solid timber seat and a hand-carved backrest. The loose cushions not only enhance seating comfort but also add a touch of color and softness to the chair, allowing for customization to suit different interior styles.

The Centre chair project started in May 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City and was completed in September 2017. It was first put to use at a local restaurant in October 2017, where it received positive feedback for its design and comfort.

This design is a testament to the values of modern craftsmanship, showcasing the beauty of simplicity in everyday products. Vu Hoang Anh's Centre chair has received recognition for its outstanding design, winning the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2018. This prestigious award acknowledges the chair's ingenious design, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology to improve the quality of life.
